"What are we going to do?" I said to my husband. How will we feed our kids if we don't even have food for ourselves?" There was only one way we could help ourselves. I would have to sacrifice my own kids to be able to live. "I have an idea, early tomorrow morning, we should take them as far away as possible into the woods and away from the house. We could light a fire for them and give them each a piece of bread. then wait until they fall asleep. This is when we sneak back to the house." He then answered, "No! I can't leave my kids all alone in the forest! this is crazy!"

-"Well we have to do something or we're going to die!" I would've thought he agreed with me because he kept quiet. We fell asleep that night, But I kept hearing noises. I heard the door open and close. Maybe I was just being paranoid, so I didn't pay attention to it. The next morning I woke up with a stomach ache, I ignored it. It most be nothing. I woke the kids and we headed for the forest. We walked and walked until I thought it was far enough. Then we started a fire and gave them a piece of bread each. "We'll be back for more wood" I told the kids. The next day, the kids found their way back home. I don't know how that would've happened. But we tried it again. Except this time I locked the door to their room so they wouldn't get out. We took them to the forest again and left them there.

They didn't come back. Finally I have gotten rid of them. The pain in my stomach got stronger. I had to lay down in bed. I could barely get up and I was extremely tired. I had a bad fever, I didn't think it was going to go away. Suddenly there was no light, I couldn't see anymore, and I could move. I was dead.

Zebras and one little monkey

The little monkey felt lonely, the closest animals that he could hang out with were a herd of zebras by the river. He figured that they wouldn't like him since he wasn't one of them. He had some black and white paint and decided to disguise himself as a zebra. He crossed the log over the river and walked up the hill to say hello to the zebras. They noticed he was too small to be a zebra. It suddenly started top rain, the water made the paint melt off the monkey's fur. "You're not one of us!" one of the zebras said. "You're a monkey." Another zebra spoke, "We would have accepted you for who you are, you don't have to disguise yourself."

If you had to blame someone or something for the outcasts' deaths, who/what would you blame & why?

I would blame Uncle Billy for the deaths of the outcasts'. I don't think they were bad people in the first place. He could have given them a another chance to stay in the town. The drunk, maybe he can't help himself drinking. People are the way they are. They can't always change themselves. If Uncle Billy didn't like them, the least they could have done is help them out. He could have made the prostitutes into better people. They weren't bad people either, but they did curse a lot. All of the outcasts' had some kind of bad habits. Maybe the gambler didn't have to gamble so much, and Uncle Billy might have gotten along with him. Uncle Billy would've made things better for them if he had given them a chance.

Flowers for Algernon

If you were given a choice to have an operation that would make you much smarter, would you do it, especially if you knew the the effects of the surgery would only be temporary? Why or Why not? Use examples from the story.

I wouldn't want the to take the operation. I don't think I would want to be smarter because I won't have it for too long. In my opinion, I say there is no point of it. It's like giving a toddler a toy and then taking it away. Sure, it'll last a little while, but not for too long. Another reason why I wouldn't want to take the operation is because maybe I'll get picked on. Charlie was laughed at, after the operation. People were jealous in a way, because he was smarter than them, so they made fun of him. He thought they were laughing with him, when really, they were laughing at him. It can also be dangerous to have surgeries, something can go wrong. I'll only have a surgery if the process would last forever. But since it doesn't, then I wouldn't take the surgery.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Chapters 8-the end

Usually you would think families support each other. Be there for each other when they are needed. But in this story, the message about family was different. When Benjamin was born, Roger took a while to accept that his son was an old man. When Roger first saw his son, he couldn't believe it. "Am I mad?" thundered Mr. Button, his terror resolving into rage. "Is this some ghastly hospital joke?" Of course anyone would've been shocked to see an old man that turned out to be your kid. Roger went out to buy Benjamin some clothes, and when he came back, Benjamin wasn't too happy with the clothes he bought him. "They look sort of funny to me," he complained, "I don't want to be made a monkey of--" "You've made a monkey of me!" retorted Mr. Button fiercely. "Never you mind how funny you look. Put them on--or I'll--or I'll spank you." I'd say that what Roger said was a bit mean. This also shows that he was having hard time accepting who he was. The message that it's sending is that not every family is perfect. Not all members in a family accept who they really are. They all have their own personal issues.

Normally, when a baby is born, he/she is born young. But in this case, Benjamin was born old. Mainly, age had to do with Roger not accepting Benjamin. A lot of people say younger is better. For example, A lot of celebrities get plastic surgeries because they want to look younger. They think that younger is better. They would probably get hired at jobs if they look younger. "What are you going to call me, dad?" Benjamin said. Mr. Button grunted. "I don't know," he answered harshly. "I think we'll call you Methuselah." Methuselah is the oldest person in the bible. This also shows that he doesn't accept him because of his age. The message is that maybe, people would like you better if you were younger. They would probably hang out with you more often, than old people.


A lot of people think that you have beauty when you're younger than when you're older. Apparently, beauty has to do with age most of the time. When Benjamin got married, A lot of people were asking themselves why Hildegarde had married an old man. But as the years passed, Benjamin got younger, and people were surprised that she was old and he was young. "Good Lord!" he said aloud. The process was continuing. There was no doubt of it--he looked now like a man of thirty." He was out dancing with good-looking girls, while his wife was a bit annoyed and jealous. "He was there, dancing with the prettiest of the young married women, chatting with the most popular of the debutantes, and finding their company charming, while his wife, a dowager of evil omen, sat among the chaperons, now in haughty disapproval, and now following him with solemn, puzzled, and reproachful eyes." I think that the woman were attracted to him since he was young.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Chapters 3-7

After reading Chapters 3-7, predict three problems you think Benjamin will encounter & give your solutions for each.

I think that maybe he decides to leave his wife since he's not that attracted to her anymore. He looks for someone younger to marry, maybe as young as he is. But maybe something happens to his son, Roscoe, he gets really sicks and goes into a coma. Benjamin decides to go back with his old wife to support her. He wants to be with his son, and hopes he get better.

I think that maybe he will try out for a job. He gets the job but as he gets younger, he starts loosing his knowledge, and eventually he gets fired. He isn't so smart anymore, and he is too young to work. But luckily, his father decides to help him out. He starts giving him some allowance. Benjamin is bummed because he lost his job, so Roger tries to make him feel better, he supports him.

Maybe Benjamin's parents die. He is left alone and doesn't know where to go. But he still has someone, his wife. His wife also eventually dies and he stays with his son. He decides no to remarry again because he thinks Roscoe won't take it too well. He has a few years to see his son grow up, eventually he dies as he gets younger.

The Curious case of Benjamin Button, Chapter 2

Roger is so overly concerned with how Benjamin looks & is worried about what people are going to say. What should he do?

I think that Roger shouldn't care what other people say. He should be glad that he at least has a son. He didn't expect an old man, but he should eventually get over it and deal with it. He should try to make his son happy, it's all that matters when you have already created someone. This old man is now a part of Roger no matter what, even if he denies it. If other people won't accept him, then he will just have to deal with that too, defend him maybe, and not care about what other people say.
