A picture is worth a thousand words

I woke up one morning, and like the usual, I had to bring the cattle some water. I wasn't hungry that morning so I decided to skip breakfast. My dad called, "Hey, Jane! Did you bring the-, "I'm going dad", I interrupted him. It was one of those days where I wasn't in the mood of doing anything. With sleepy eyes, I walked towards the well with 2 buckets, one on each hand. I filled up one bucket, then the other one, and walked back to the cattle, then left the buckets of water near them. It was extremely sunny and hot, I thought it was weird because we're in fall, and it's usually cold. I decided to take a break, I sat down below a tree, and behind me were some bushes.

Behind the bushes I heard a weird scoff coming from behind the bushes. I turned around an
unexpectedly saw a horse laying down. He was hurt, his legs were all swollen and bleeding. It looked like someone had beaten him up, and he had escaped because he still had a piece of rope around his neck. I tried to remove the piece of rope still on his neck, but he tried to bite me. His actions told me he was scared. He started to growl at me.

I tried to be gentle as gentle as possible and he finally let me take the rope off his neck. I could tell that he knew I wasn't going to hurt him because he got closer to me. He looked at me with his sad eyes. My guess was that no one wanted him since he was all beat up. I decided to keep him, I named him Roscoe. I always remembered to feed him after I was done feeding the cattle. My dad let me keep him but he never let Roscoe by the house. I kept him tied up to a tree every time we had dinner.

One day, Grandma Rose asked me to go to the store and buy some bread. So i untied Roscoe and before I climbed on him, dad called and said, "Be careful". When I got to the store, it looked like it was being robbed. "Why would someone be robbing a small store? It's not like there would be a large amount of money" I thought. There were two guys pointing their guns at the clerk. The clerk gave them all the cash he had. I tried to hide, but Roscoe accidentally stepped on a puddle of mud which made noise. The two men saw us, they pointed their guns at me, I didn't run because if i tried, they would probably shoot me.

They demanded I give them my horse. They tried to take Roscoe away from me but he stood up on his back legs and kicked them, he knocked them out. I checked in the thieves' pockets and took the little amount of money they had stolen and gave it back to the clerk. "Thank you so much! you have a great horse there." the clerk said. "Oh, It's nothing. Anyway, I'd like to buy some bread please." I said. "You can have it for free. This is my way or repaying you miss." "Thank you." I said. I rode Roscoe back home. When I got home, everyone was in the living room, and I'm guessing they were waiting for the bread because their plates were there untouched. My brother, Owen asked, "What took you so long? I'm hungry!" "We're all waiting for you" my sister Lizzie said. "Something happened, but uh, not important" I said, Then I smiled.

Dad said, "Roscoe must be hungry, Why don't ya feed him Jane?" I forgot to tied Roscoe to the tree. When I was about to walk out the door, he was there. Dad decided to let him hang around by the house. So I sat back down and finished my food. Then I started feeding Roscoe pieces of bread. My youngest brother, Jimmy started arguing with Owen because he ate too fast and he didn't have any manners. But it was okay, I was used to them arguing all the time.

The Secret

It was my best friend's deepest, darkest secret and it would be a hard one to keep. Janie and I have been best friends since we were in preschool. We were in the same class until 8th grade. She called me one time, and said that she had something to tell me. But she said she had to tell me in person. I went over to her house, walked in her room, and there she was sitting on the side of her bed. She looked at me and tried to give me a smile. "Hey Pate", She said to me. I have something important to tell you. I knew that look she gave me. Every time she gave me that look, I knew something was definitely wrong. She said, "I have a Brain Tumor. I kept getting a lot of headaches, and my mom took me to the doctor, that's when we found out. I'm going to die Pate. The doctor said I only have 3 months." I didn't know what to say to Janie, everything just froze and I didn't know what to say. I was scared, but I knew that Janie was terrified. She started to cry, and I gave her hug to try to make her feel better. But that only made it worse, she started crying even more. I knew a hug wouldn't make her feel better, nothing will, not in this situation. "You were the first one I told, and I need you to promise me that you won't tell anyone else" Janie said. "I promise" I said. The next day at school, Janie was getting picked on by some bullies. It wasn't the first time she ever got picked on. I used to see kids bullying her almost everyday in school. Of course, I defended her, but she hated when someone helped her out. She wanted to do things on her own. Maybe if I told kids at school her situation, they would go easy on her. She always had problems in her life, and maybe they wouldn't pick on her if they knew what was happening to her. But i couldn't tell anyone, I promised. A few days later, Janie was being bullied once again. Some kid pushed her to the ground, "Give me your lunch money!" He said. I helped her up and angrily I said, "What is wrong with you!, Janie is dying and you treat her like this?!?" That was an accident, I really didn't mean to say that, it just slipped out. "Why would you say that! I told you not to tell anyone!" Janie said. "I'm sorry, Janie. But I can't let them treat you like this!" She walked away from me at a fast pace. The rest of her days, everyone was nice to her. She was very mad at me, I thought she would never forgive me. Until one day I visited her at the hospital, I was told that she had only a few hours left. Before she was gone, she said she forgived me.

Her Mysterious Death

Her death was due to mysterious circumstances and I was assigned to the case. Her name was Megan R. Peterson, and she was my friend. I've known her since we were in high school. She was like a sister to me, and that's what i considered her, "Family doesn't end with blood". She was killed, and it was up to me to solve the mystery. She had a great life, a loving husband, 2 kids, why would anyone want to kill her? There was a funeral held for her, everyone she knew was there, dressed in black. As I looked down at her, I promised I would catch her killer. After the funeral, I stopped by the crime scene for any clues.
"Madison!", Jessie called out as he was walking towards me. Jessie was my partner. I only knew him for about 4 years now. We were good friends. "I think I found something that belonged to your friend Megan", He said. "It looks like a piece of the dress she was wearing that night she was murdered." I said.
Before Megan was killed, we were all having dinner at Jessie's house, Jessie's wife had invited us over. Megan, Her husband Josh, Jessie, Jessie's wife, Pamela, Thomas, another detective, and his partner Alex. I didn't know Thomas and Alex very well, though I saw them everyday at work. After we finished eating, we decided to call it a day. Josh and Megan went home, so did Alex and Thomas. I went home later on after helping Pamela with the dishes. Why was Megan found in an old house? What was she doing there in the first place? I looked around for more clues in the house.
Madison: The house is a mess, everything knocked over. It looks like there was a fight in here.
Jessie: You think Megan fought her attacker for a while?
Madison: It's possible. How did you say the body was found?
Jessie: She was laying on the floor face down, like someone had put her there after she was killed. It could have been possible that she was strangled with a rope. She had red marks around her neck. the rope was found in the garbage can. We checked for any finger prints on the rope but it looks like our attacker was wearing gloves.
Madison: Smart.
Jessie and I went over to Josh's house to talk to him.
Jessie: Josh is it okay if we look around?
Josh: Yeah sure, go ahead.
Jessie and I look in all the rooms of the house. We check the basement too. We find gloves in one of the boxes.
Madison: Hey Josh, can we see your hands?

Jessie and I both look at his hands.

Madison: Why are your hands all bruised and cut up?
Josh: I'm a construction worker, I had an accident today at work.
Jessie: Thank you for your time.
My partner and I went back to our office.
Jessie: He's a construction worker, you know that. Why did you have to ask about his hands?
Madison: There was also a knife found in the crime scene. It could have been possible that Megan had used the knife to defend herself.
Jessie: Where would she have gotten the knife from? Didn't know she was an undercover Ninja.
Madison: Undercover Ninja? What does that mean? Megan was always over protective. Guess she just wanted to be safe.
We looked for any fingerprints, on the rope or the knife. But there were none.
I went back to the old abandoned house while Jessie stayed back at the office looking over some papers.
I saw Josh there, looking around the house.
Madison: What are you doing here?
Josh: *sadly* I just wanted to see where my wife was murdered. Why are you here?
Madison: I forgot some of the evidence here.

I take the knife that i found earlier and put in it a plastic bag.

Madison: Before Megan died, did you ever work things out with her?
Megan would tell stories that she and Josh would fight often about money issues.
Josh: Yes, I did, why are you asking me this? Do you think i had something to do with her death?
Madison: I'm just trying to figure out who did this.
Josh: Me too. I would never harm Megan.

The next day at the office, Jessie didn't come to work. I noticed black gloves on Alex's desk. As I approached him, He put them in his desk. He had a very disappointed face.

Madison: Whats wrong?
Alex: Didn't you hear? Pamela's dead.
Madison: Jesse's wife? What happened??
Alex: She was found in the same house where Megan was killed.

I rushed to the old house. They had already taken Pamela in a body bag. But Jessie was there, sitting on the steps of the house with his head down. I told him how sorry I was.

Madison: How could this happen? Why were both of them killed in this house?
Jessie: I don't know, but I want to catch this killer by tonight.

We went to talk to Alex.
Madison: So who found the body?
Alex: I did. I'd say she was murdered at night. The body was fresh when i found her.
Jessie: Where were you before you found her?
Alex: I was still here, in my office, working.

Alex left work that night, I told Jessie that he was a bit suspicious. I broke into Alex's office, and checked in his desk.

Madison: We might have more than one suspect.

I opened the lower desk and found some gloves, a knife and a rope.

Madison: I had the knife and rope locked up. I don't know where he got the gloves from.
Jessie: I don't believe it. You think it's him?
Madison: I don't know. Maybe. Hey where is Thomas?
Jessie: He left after Alex did.
Madison: Alex's car is still here. Where would he go?
Jessie: The old house a few blocks away, You think he could've gone there?
Madison: You better go check if Thomas is at his house, I'll go to the abandoned house.

I walked in the house and there was Alex. Meanwhile, Jessie arrived at Thomas' house.

Jessie: Did you get a chance to see where Alex went?
Thomas: I saw him walking towards that old abandoned house.

Alex turned to me.

Alex: I knew you'd find me. You and Jessie have been on my nerves for too long.
Madison: Why would you kill Megan and Pamela?
Alex: I knew that after our little affair, they would leave, i couldn't let them leave, well....at least not alive. Didn't believe they had the guts to cheat on their own husbands.
Madison: So this is what you did huh? Take them here and kill them?
Alex: *chuckles softly* Now that you know, I can't let you leave either.

I pull out my gun and before I can aim at him, he knocks it off my hands. He takes out a knife and swings at me but I move out of the way. I punch him in the face once, then try to hit him again but he blocks it. He then tackles me to the floor. He's about to stab me when Jessie rushes in and pull him off me. I am still on the floor trying to get up while the men are fighting each other. Alex punches Jessie and pushes him to the floor, then turns to me. When I'm finally on my feet, He takes Jessie's gun, I run to my gun, but when i grab it he shoots me once in the stomach. I fall down, while I'm on the floor, i shoot him, then he shoots me. I got him in the heart but he got me in the stomach twice. He falls down, I see Jessie run towards me. I feel this red hot pain in my stomach, and then I black out, Everything goes black. Now, even though that I'm dead, I'm glad i found Megan's killer.

How to Make Logandale Better

There are a few things that can make Logandale a better school. My first idea is to have more ideas in school to make learning fun. I think we should get bigger lockers and/or rebuild the school to make it bigger. Teachers should give at least fifteen minutes of homework, and it should be easy work. Wouldn’t you want your school to be simple?

We should make this school fun. Have after school activities related with sports and games. Teachers should come up with a game while teaching the kids. We should be let out for recess if we behaved well in class. Paying games while learning would attract more kids to our school. The population in our school would be a better one.

The kids also need more space when they go to their lockers. There should be a full locker per person, not a half locker for each student. Kids might mix their books with others. They might accidentally take someone else’s books. I don’t think kids would want to loose their belongings.

Another idea is that maybe the school would attract more kids if they were given easy homework. They should get warm-ups, work they already know how to do. Easy work will help them get ready for the next day of school. They would learn in class because they would be given a little bit of a challenge in class work. Teachers should give a little bit of homework, but yet enough. They shouldn’t get too much work to do.

In Conclusion, these examples will help make this school better. The school will get more kids. Kids won’t transfer to other school. If we’re lucky enough, we might get more teachers too. Logandale’s population would basically increase.

Maribel's Life Story

I was really happy and excited when i found out my mom was pregnant with my sister. I wanted to see her right when she came out of my mother's womb, But i wasn't allowed to see her yet. She was born July 18, 1995 at 10p.m. on a Friday. I finally saw my little sister Maribel. She would usually always get more attention than me. But i get that she needed more attention because she was a baby. She would always start crying when she lost something. My dad named her Maribel, But if my mom had a chance to name her, she said she would've named her Caroline. As she got older we would usually fight a lot. We would basically pick fights for no reason. Mom was always on her side, she would always defend her, which would always make me mad. I'm eight years older than her and always will be.

Right now she's thirteen years old. She's pretty cool, she covers for me so i won't get in trouble with mom and dad. One time I came home pretty wasted, I was downstairs, I didn't go upstairs because my mom would've seen me. I wouldn't want her to see me like this. She came home from school, and before she went upstairs, I told her not to say anything to mom, and she didn't. I finally decided to go upstairs, I tried to keep a straight face so mom wouldn't notice anything wrong with me. Dad came home from work, and mostly everybody was in the kitchen eating. I was called to the kitchen because my food was ready. I didn't want to go to the kitchen because my parents were there. I especially didn't want my dad to see me. My sister asked, "You want me to bring your food?" I said, "Uhm, yeah sure." Maribel brought my food and i said thank you.

She has covered for me a few times now, and I thank her for that. Sometimes I invite her to go to the Theater with my friends and I. I usually only take her to the Theater when she really wants to see a specific movie. I mostly spend time with my friends, but i also cherish the time I have with my sister.
